Victor Garber just lit up the small screen again in the SyFy movie "Ice Quake," but the guys at E!'s The Soup couldn't help but take some of his lines from the film out of context. Watch below as Garber appears to be talking about his own flatulence, to put a kind spin on it.

Meet Sarah Jones, an actress most recently seen on "Sons of Anarchy," who has been cast as the lead in J.J. Abrams' new show "Alcatraz." She will play a police detective investigating the Alcatraz case (mentioned below). She joins Jennifer Garner and Anna Torv (Fringe) as J.J.'s hand picked leads.
We also now know some details of the show's plot. It involves several Alcatraz prisoners and guards who went missing at the prison 30 years ago and reappear in the present day. Jorge Garcia (Lost's Hurley) plays a modern day Alcatraz expert.

Also starring Brendan Fehr, "Ice Quake" tells the story of a family separated when Alaskan glaciers begin to melt, causing earthquakes that threaten the entire planet. David Anders on Undercovers!
Posted on 7:27 PM by clark
How did I miss hearing about this? David Anders appeared on tonight's episode of "Undercovers" called "Assassin," which is episode #7. To avoid spoilers, I won't give out what his role was, but despite being a J.J. Abrams show, he does NOT play Sark. That would have been AWESOME, but it didn't happen. NBC must not have made much noise about Anders being on the show, because I usually get some sort of alert about the workings of former Alias actors.
In case you missed it, you can watch the episode through cable and satellite systems that offer NBC TV On Demand or online.

It's official: no ALIAS movie!
Posted on 11:36 PM by clark
The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly is a special "reunion" issue, including an interview with Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber. EW has posted a video of part of the interview right here. Among the revelations are both Garner and Garber have no desire to do an Alias movie, mentioning that it is the one thing they are always asked about. If those two don't want to do one, we'll never see it. Oh well, we can still dream.

Jennifer Garner's old dorm room now a cultural landmark
Posted on 1:48 PM by clark
Jennifer Garner's old dorm room has become some sort of cultural landmark. Room 113 of Smith Hall at Denison University in Columbus, Ohio was Garner's home when she first attended college, and it is now a boy's dorm shared by three grateful young men. “I feel her soul in the room every time I walk in,” Guram Sakvarelidze, a student from the country of Georgia, told a reporter about living in the room. Really? I don't care how big a fan you are of Alias, that's still weird.

An airdate for her episodes has not been scheduled, but it is supposed to be later this season.

Affleck won't work again with Jennifer
Posted on 11:24 AM by clark
While promoting his new film "The Town," Ben Affleck talked about the possibility of working with his wife again. The two worked together on "Pearl Harbor" and "Daredevil," before they started dating. "Jen is a great actress. I would be profoundly lucky to work with her," he said. "But something tells me that people don't want to see real-life couples together at the movies. I think audiences have a hard time suspending disbelief. They already know a whole bunch of things about the relationship you have with the other person and if you try and thrust you and another person into a fictional relationship. I think it is distracting."

Fox orders J.J.'s "Alcatraz"
Posted on 2:17 PM by clark
Another island mystery drama for J.J.? It sure looks like it. Fox Television has ordered a pilot from Bad Robot Productions called "Alcatraz." It written by Liz Sarnoff (a Lost writer) as well as Steven Lilen and Bryan Wynbrandt (who wrote fro Kyle XY) and is described as a "dramatic series that explores the lore and mysteries of Alcatraz, the notorious San Francisco island prison." Since this is an order for a pilot, there is no guarantee this will make it to air. Fox executives must review the pilot before ordering a series, usually in the spring.

David Anders on Vampire Diaries

David Anders certainly made an impression on The Vampire Diaries, the CW hit show, this past season. Without giving spoilers, Anders' character, Uncle John, was a big part of the finale last season, with the second season premiere airing last night. I missed it myself, but you can visit CWTV.com to see past episodes. The premiere isn't up yet, but it should be soon, and several of last season's episodes are available to watch.

Former Alias writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have penned the script for the next Mission: Impossible flick, which J.J. Abrams will produce and Brad Bird (Iron Giant, Incredibles) will direct. Now, word is Paramount is worried about MI-4, after "Knight and Day" tanked at the box office, so much so that they have asked for a rewrite of the script. Let's hope they stick with Josh and Andre's script, which has gotten lots of good buzz.

Jennifer Garner in Arthur remake?
Posted on 11:36 PM by clark
Rumors are swirling in Hollywood that Jennifer Garner is in talks for a role in the remake of Arthur, starring Russell Brand. Jen would play Susan, the heiress Brand's Arthur would have to marry to keep his fortune. Nick Nolte is in talks to play her father.
While I'd like to see The Dimples in a new Arthur, I find Russell Brand unbearable. He's unfunny and a complete beating. I don't know if Jen would be enough to get me in a theater. OK, I'm lying, I'd still go, but my opinion of Brand won't change.

Vartan on Alias reboot: NO NO NO NO!
Posted on 12:35 PM by clark
Michael Vartan has chimed in on the whole Alias reboot rumors, and he ain't happy. Actually, he's joking about it, but he thinks the whole idea is kind of silly. "I'm still young enough to run down a hallway, and so is Jennifer [Garner]. What is this nonsense of recasting Alias? Give us 20 years at least. How dare they?"
Vartan is currently doing press interview for the second season of Hawthorne, which premieres June 22 on TNT. He doesn't think the main cast members would return for a show if they continued the original storyline, and he doesn't even think he would guest star on a continuation that focuses on new characters. "I would say, 'Go with God' and do something else. There's only one Jack Bristow and Sydney Bristow."

Is the Undercovers script online?
Posted on 3:14 PM by clark
If you're wondering if Undercovers will deliver the goods, you might be able to judge. An Italian newspaper, Il Post, claims to have the script to the pilot, and have posted the first twenty pages online. It's unclear whether it is the real deal, but the paper thinks so.
The script was written by J.J. Abrams and Josh Reims, and according to a note on the script, the pacing is incredibly fast. Personally, I won't read it, because I want to enter the show without any preconceptions. Remember the awesome opening to Alias? I'm hoping for that, and reading the script beforehand will ruin that. An ALIAS reboot? E's Kristin says maybe!
Posted on 3:27 PM by clark
Don't get too excited just yet, but E Online's Kristin is reporting that ABC is in early talks with J.J. Abrams to reboot Alias in an attempt to recapture the audience they are losing with Lost and FlashForward going off the air.
According to the report, talks are very preliminary, and there's no indication if Jennifer Garner or Michael Vartan would return or if this would be a complete reboot with new actors or characters. Apparently, what won't be returning is the Rambaldi storyline. Whew! More on this as we get it! Here's the original story link.

Jennifer Garner goes all buttery for next film
Posted on 10:39 PM by clark
Next month, Jennifer Garner starts working on her next film, and its nothing like her role as Sydney Bristow. Director Jim Field Smith (She’s Out Of My League) is making a movie called "Butter." Guess what it's about?
“It’s about butter carving in the Midwest, believe it or not,” Smith tells us. “Google it, you’ll be amazed. It’s like the NASCAR of dairy.”According to a Toronto Sun article, the comedy is a metaphor for the 2008 U.S. Presidential election, with Garner as the Hillary Clinton of the piece, the Butter Carving Queen whose coronation is considered a mere formality. That is, until a 12-year-old African-American butter-carving prodigy turns up (Yara Shahidi), who pulls the competitive rug out from under her despite a lack of experience. It’s Garner’s first film under the aegis of her new production company. “I can’t wait to start churning,” she says.

This may not be good news....
Posted on 3:37 PM by clark
Fox announced today that Monica Breen and Alison Schapker have joined the crew of "Fringe" as executive producers. Astute fans will remember this duo as the ones who ruined Alias. OK, maybe that isn't fair, but they did join the show as executive story editors and writers during the disastrous third season. They were executive producers during the final two seasons, and wrote some of the worst episodes during that time. "Prophet 5," the episode that killed Vaughn, can be laid at their feet as writers. Maybe I'm being harsh, because a lot of folks failed the show later on, but I just don't like their track record. Not on Alias, Lost, or the other shows they were on. I love Fringe, and I'd hate to see the "tone" change.

Rachel Nichols will be on the big screen soon, in the role of Tamara in the new Conan movie! She plays a queen's bodyguard who joins forces with Conan, played by Jason Momoa, who apparently appeared on one of Stargate's many series. Don't ask me which, they're all the same. Anyway, I can't wait to see Rachel go all "Gladiator" on folks. I never would have guessed when Alias ended that Rachel would end up doing more big-budget action flicks than Jennifer Garner.

Garner and Biel the new Laverne and Shirley?
Posted on 3:24 PM by clark
Garry Marshall, the director of Jennifer Garner's new film Valentine's Day is seriously considering a remake of his classic TV show Laverne and Shirley. After after fellow Day star Jamie Foxx suggested to Marshall that Garner and Jessica Biel would make a good Laverne and Shirley, the director loved the idea. Apparently, Biel and Garner became good friends while working on the film, and their antics caught Foxx's attention. Marshall has already confirmed that he is moving forward on the movie, and says his sister Penny Marshall (original Laverne) and Cindy Williams (original Shirley) will have cameos. Garner said she and Biel are excited about the project. "We're dying to do it," she said.

A big week for David Anders
Posted on 3:29 PM by clark
David Anders was all over the place this past week. He appeared on 24 on Fox Monday night (as the son of a Russian arms dealer), while at the same time, he reappeared on Heroes on NBC as Adam Monroe, in a very cool pairing with Hiro Nakamura. The Heroes episode was great, even if the season as a whole has been way below average. If you missed either episode, you can see them online on the network websites or Hulu.com. After those, I happened to see what was new on my online Netflix via xbox, and what's in the movies section? "Left in Darkness" with David Anders! I'm on Sark overload right now.

Attention Alias fans: Bradley Cooper is not gay, and he did not have a gay relationship with Victor Garber. That's good to know, even though I never heard that rumor. Apparently, Bradley Cooper did, and he actually thought it was funny. "People thought we were dating. It was all over the Internet. It was the first time I read a rumor like that about me, and I just thought it was fantastic," he said in a recent interview. Cooper is currently dating Renee Zellweger and finishing work on "The A-Team."
